The government of St Kitts and Nevia resumed LAND (Land Allocation, Normalization and Distribution) Payments for persons who were allocated lands in 2020 and 2021.

St Kitts and Nevis: The government of St Kitts and Nevia resumed LAND (Land Allocation, Normalization and Distribution) Payments for persons who were allocated lands in 2020 and 2021. The payment will be resumed on July 13, 2023. 

The announcements were made as follows: 

  • Land allocated up to December 2020 resumes payments at Treasury. 
  • Land allocated in 2021: Submit survey documents and confirm payments with the Minister of Sustainable Development before proceeding to the Treasury 
  • Land allocated in 2022: Minister of Sustainable Development craves the patience of the citizens as it still is in the process of finalizing major challenges associated with land distribution. 
  • The resumption of land allocation will be held in August 2023. 

Speaking at the press conference, Sustainable Development Minister- Dr Joyelle Clarke said that the resumption of payments for persons who were allocated lands in 2022 is yet to be confirmed as the ministry continues to work on that. She announced that they will finalize the major challenges associated with it during that year, including double and triple allocations and allocations to lots which do not exist. 

Minister Dr Clarke said that the announcement on the improvements and changes of the process will be made by Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew. 

Dr Clarke said that the ministry will deal with allocation, normalization and distribution. She said that the ministry will work for the upliftment of the citizens and work for their land ownership and several other land initiatives. She said that these announcements will improve the techniques of land related matters, assess and restructure the process of land allocation and land use in St Kitts.”

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew also shared snapshots of the Prime Minister’s Press Conference with Cabinet Ministers, where several matters of national importance were addressed and major announcements made.

While recognizing it as good news, PM Terrance Drew said that the government of St Kitts and Nevis is working by adopting the approach of “a new day in a better way.”
