St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended wishes on the 40th anniversary of the Independence of St Kitts and Nevis. He said that this is the great day for the historical and cultural aspect of the Federation.
Every year, St Kitts and Nevis celebrates its Independence on September 19, 2023 with exciting lineup of events. The celebration of the Independence focuses on the courage and spirit of the national heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the nation building.
The lineup of the event also focused on the sustainable growth and endure presence on the magnificent island. The government of St Kitts and Nevis has also declared the public holiday on September 19, 2023. The country commemorates the celebration of the Independence from the United Kingdom on this day in 1983.
St Kitts and Nevis appreciated their national flag which is also known as the “Flag of Freedom.” The significance of the national flag of the Federation is as follows:
- Green – The fertile land and lush vegetation
- Red – Their struggle from slavery through colonialism to independence
- Yellow – Their year-round sunshine
- Black – Their African heritage
- White – Hope and Liberty
Denzil Douglas- Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis said that this is the pivotal celebration of the independence of the history of the nation. The 40th Independence marks great joy, pride and celebration of the historic culture of St Kitts and Nevis.
He also expressed pleasure and encouraged young citizens to be actively involved in nation building.
Deputy Prime Minister said that the men and women in society should work for the nation building. It will enhance their capabilities and strengthen their land for the greater good.
The citizens of St Kitts and Nevis also extended wishes on the Independence Day.
