St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew visits Upper Monkey Hill to examine water situation

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew visited several of his constituents in Upper Monkey Hill to follow up on the water situation since the repairs were made to the pump.

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew visited several of his constituents in Upper Monkey Hill to follow up on the water situation since the repairs were made to the pump.

He stated that the meetings were quite fruitful. PM Drew added that the administration has been continuously making efforts to ensure that the water supply issue throughout St. Kitts is fully resolved.

Earlier, PM Drew also shared an update on the water issue in St. Peters which has been rectified. 80% of the community has received water, but due to an air blockage (air in the pipes) preventing the flow of water, it will take time to fully reach all the homes.

He also reassured the entire community of St. Peters that the Water Department, under the leadership of the Permanent Secretary Darryl Lloyd and the Water Engineer Cromwell Williams, have been working vigorously over the past four (4) days to resolve the issue.

PM Drew extended gratitude to the team at the Water Department for the excellent work they have been doing. They have been working assiduously since Saturday repairing the pump and now the matter has been resolved.

“We are committed to resolving the water situation not just in St. Peters but throughout the whole of St. Kitts and Nevis. We will continue to monitor the situation closely,”said the prime minister.

On October 11, 2022, he also joined the Community Development amd Social Services Department on a special visit and presentation to Frances-Ann Prince of Upper Cayon, who turned 100 years old, becoming the Federation’s newest centenarian.

He also extended once again joyous birthday greetings to Frances-Ann Prince on this momentous occasion.

PM Drew also met with Dr Joyelle Clarke and the staff at Solid Waste to address several issues and concerns. He noted, “Sanitation workers are critical to the health and well-being of a nation; in fact, Martin Luther King, in the early stages of his movement, marched with sanitation workers because he knew how critical they were to the well-being and functioning of society.”
