St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew to call second sitting of National Assembly
St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew will call the second sitting of the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday. He will present the second reading for the good governance agenda in the parliament.
He took to social media, shared the update and invited the citizens to be part of the proceedings of the parliament. It will be live aired on Facebook and YouTube and shared the link.
While sharing the update, PM Terrance Drew cited, “My dear people, today will be a momentous day in parliament, where the second reading for the good governance agenda will take place.”
The sitting of the National Assembly will feature the second reading of the Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Official Gazette Bill, 2023. He stated that the nation and people had been promised that it would have been done, but for seven years, there was nothing but deception. Such deception was seen, and as a result, meaningful change was voted for in the interest of good governance.
Shedding light on the significance of these laws, PM Terrance Drew asserted that these laws play a significant role in the upliftment of St Kitts and Nevis, and the corruption could be minimized.
“These laws are vital to our continued progress as an independent nation. These laws will seek to get rid of corruption and self-serving public figures who seek to enrich themselves and their families, “said the prime minister.
PM Terrance Drew asked for the full support of the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis and added, “I ask for your full support. Much is being said to distract you, but I encourage you to ignore the noise and keep focused. Together we will make history and transform the governance landscape for the better.”
PM Drew also presented the first reading of the Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
In the first sitting of the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis, PM Terrance Drew presented the following piece of legislation:
• Caribbean Community and Africa Export-Import Bank (Agreement for the Establishment of a Partnership) Bill, 2023
• Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) (Amendment) Bill, 2023
