Get to know her a little better

Born on the 68 square mile, sunny gem of St Kitts to Diana Williams-Humphrey and Rosbert Humphrey is a charismatic, confident and multitalented young lady. I am Zahra Humphrey and on 20th September 2009, my star took flight as I began this wonderful journey called life. I consider myself to be blessed with a large very supportive family support system that extends from St Peter’s, where I reside, down to Boyds/West Farm.

My formal education began at the George Moody Stuart School (Factory School) when at 3 years old I enrolled in Kindergarten. From GMSS, I went on to the Seventh Day Adventist Primary from Grade 3. Nihil nisi optimum โ€“ Nothing but the best, the SDA school motto, was a hallmark of my primary education. I view myself as an academic who strives for success in all endeavours.

As a first form student at age 11, I sat CSEC Social Studies and successfully earned a Grade II. This was a remarkable feat as at that time there was only a 53% passing rate for Social Studies across the region. I am currently a 13-year-old student of form 3g1 at the Basseterre High School. As I traverse this teenage journey, I am guided by the words, “If you believe it, you can achieve it”. These words are my motto because I believe that vision and perseverance are the keys to achieving goals. I am driven and committed and do not view things as impossible.

While not engaged in academic pursuits, I love to dance and dabble in artistic makeup. I am also a member of the St Peter’s Anglican Church, where I serve as a member of the Guild of Sanctuary Servers and also a Reader. My future goal is to become a medical doctor specialising in Neurology. I also have my sights set on becoming Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis. In preparation for this journey, I am actively involved in the St Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA). In fact, I participated in my first Parliamentary Sitting when I was 11 years old. At the tender age of 13 I believe that my horizons are limitless, and my greatest achievements lay ahead.

One of my favourite books is the Bible. My passion for this book was nurtured through my Christian education at the Seventh Day Adventist Primary and I credit my 5th Grade teacher, Mr Davin Scarborough, with helping me to develop this passion. I use Jeremiah 29:11 as my compass: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. I believe that God has a plan for our lives and regardless of any situation we will emerge triumphant once we believe.
