St Kitts and Nevis: A male patient admitted to the Psychiatric Ward of the Joseph N France General Hospital for treatment committed suicide. The Ministry of Health of St Kitts and Nevis shared the information about the incident.
The Ministry of Health issued the press release and stated that the incident occurred at about 3: 30 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Prime Minister and Minister of Health- Dr Terrance Drew, extended condolences and support to the family and loved ones. Moreover, the staff at the Ministry of Health and the Joseph N. France General Hospital also joined to offer condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased person at this trying time.
The press release asserted that the ministry of health and the entire health workforce expressed their profound condolences and were saddened by the tragic event.
The hospital staff has also informed the family of the patient about the incident. The Joseph N France General Hospital and the staff assured the citizens that with the critical analysis and proper examination, they would undertake the investigation of the incident. All the findings will be shared with the family.
The press release outlined that the authorities of the Hospital will continue their review measures which will ensure the safety of patients. They asserted that the staff and the patients will always remain their top priority.
However, the investigation is still going on, and the Ministry of Health will be processed.
Further, reports mentioned that the male patient was identified as Psychiatric Prisoner Jahdell Browne.
As per the police, Browne, due to his situation, was charged with the murders of John Napier (then 75) and Sylvester Harris (then 37) and also the wounding of Wilfred Simmonds (then 52).
The report from the police about the murders stated that Browne had been referred to as “mentally challenged”.
