St Kitts and Nevis: The government of St Kitts and Nevis started the beautification drive restoration work at the government headquarters on Monday, February 13, 2023. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew shared the update on the initiative.
PM Terrance Drew took to Facebook, shared glimpses of the initiative, and expressed pleasure. He cited that this is one of the initiatives of the government of St Kitts and Nevis.
PM of St Kitts and Nevis stated that the beautification drive was first started with the recommissioning of the water fountain, situated in the centre on the ground floor of government headquarters. In order to restore the fountain, the government, under the initiative, decommissioned it for several years.
The restoration work was carried out by Craig Edwards, Owner of Underground Electronic, over the weekend. They have also renovated the garden surrounding it.
The project was laid down by recognising the significance of energy and water conservation.
While explaining the project, Craig Edwards stated that they will fill the fountain with water only once, and upon the initial set-up, the recycling of the water will be started afterwards. The opening of the fountain at the centre of government headquarters makes the rainwater refill it occasionally.
They have also installed the filter pump working on the timer. The time will stop at specific times in order to preserve energy, constantly recycling the water and allowing the pool to clean itself, thus reducing flies and mosquitoes.
The pool was decorated with the ambience lightning, which changes colour periodically. The pool has also worked on the time to turn on and off the light at a specific period to save energy. The pool has been set out in red colour in order to celebrate Valentine’s Day and will change to commemorate different occasions.
In addition to that, the pool has also included the electronic chlorine generator, which helps to eliminate the use of chlorine tablets, as it consistently generates its own chlorine to keep away algae and other forms of bacteria.
