St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, expressed pleasure after the funding was approved for medical treatment for the first patient named Ju’Niyah from the children’s health program, Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS).

It was the first patient under the programme since his government took the office of the prime minister.

PM Terrance Drew mentioned, “In keeping with our new plan, funding was approved for medical treatment for the first patient from the children’s health program, Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS), since our government took office.”

Ju’Niyah travelled yesterday to Barbados to undergo ten months of medical treatment and chemotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He further added that his government made a promise that “no more would families have to send around sponsor sheets and create GoFundMe accounts seeking medical assistance for their children.”

PM Terrance Drew asserted that they pledged that the government would provide the necessary funding to assist such families and provide the financial support to seek the medical expertise needed and that promise has been kept.

“It is our belief that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a basic human right and to that end, we pledge to ensure that one’s financial status does not hinder them from receiving the best care possible, “said the prime minister.

Further, the PALS family sends our best wishes to 3-year-old Ju’Niyah, who travelled today with her mother to Barbados. Little Ju’Niyah will be undergoing ten months of Chemotherapy and Medical Treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados.

They also extended special appreciation to the Government of St Kitts and Nevis, who approved the funding of Ju’Niyah’s overseas medical treatment. PALS is further assisting with the cost of travel, accommodations for the next ten months and other expenses during Ju’Niyah’s treatment.

Further, as the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8, he stated that he remains connected with his constituents. Today he continued his door-to-door visits with the residents of St. Peter’s.

“Keeping abreast of what is happening within my Constituency and ensuring that the water situation is fully resolved for all residents of St. Peter’s are priority items for me, “said the prime minister.Â
