The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Timothy Harris has completed his seven years in office on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The country is celebrating the accomplishment of its good governance of the Team Unity in the country only after seven years, cited by Prime Minister Harris.
While outlining the good governance agenda of his administration, Prime Minister Harris stressed,” I am proud of my government’s accomplishment after only seven years in office.
The governance of the country has been significantly improved in the past seven years, and Team Unity has dedicatedly worked for the development of St Kitts and Nevis by imposing great legislative and administrative actions, PM Harris highlighted.
By underlining the work done by the Team Unity in the last seven years, PM Harris emphasized,” The government has established by law a definite period for tabling a Motion of No Confidence. We have also given clearance to the country’s citizens about the role of the Public Accounts Committee. Moreover, the operationalization of the Procurement and Contract Act has significantly grown the country”.
The transparency ad accountability of the government in St Kitts and Nevis has improved at a high pace as the administration interacted with the public with the programmes such as Working For You, Leadership Matters. Moreover, various Press conferences and regular meetings of Parliament also provide a platform to the general public to raise their voice, underscored by the head of St Kitts and Nevis.
“For reducing the homicide in the country, the government has increased the funding, create new training opportunities and new facilities for security forces, which have declined the cases at a very high rate,” PM Harris.
While highlighting the number of people who benefited from the various policies of the government, PM Harris exclaimed,” More than 3,000 citizens have benefited with the renovation and repairing of their homes under the roof repair programmes, while 90 citizens got the concession on the building material under the first homeowner programme”.
PM Harris also thanks to the People’s Action Movement leader, Shawn Richards and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantly, for their continued support in the upliftment of St Kitts and Nevis.
