Samal Duggins, Minister responsible for National Carnival, recounts the first-ever Midnight Escape Street Festival.

Read here: Full statement of Samal Duggins

As Minister with responsibility for National Carnival, I thought it important to not only add new and trendy concepts to our Sugar Mas celebrations, but concepts which would actually boost economic activity particularly for our small scale businesses.

Therefore it was truly heart warming to hear how satisfied the hundreds of vendors and cultural practitioners were with the outcome of Midnight Escape Street Festival.

Β I am told that many of our vendors came close to selling out their goods and products. This novel concept is the brainchild of the Creative Economy in our quest to provide as many opportunities to showcase and sell our talent and creativity to the world.Β

Congratulations to our hard working P.S, Director and staff at the Ministry as well as the Carnival Committee for their unwavering commitment to make Sugar Mas 51 one for the books. I must also recognize members of the Federal Cabinet who continue to show tremendous in person support to every single initiative.
