St. Andrew’s University Cricket Team from the UK began their tour of Saint Lucia with a 40-over-a-side cricket match against a Northern Cluster Grass Roots Representative Team on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

Castries, Saint Lucia: St. Andrew’s University Cricket Team from the UK began their tour of Saint Lucia with a 40-over-a-side cricket match against a Northern Cluster Grass Roots Representative Team on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The visitors, batting first after winning the toss, made 249 for 8 in their allocated 40 overs, with Sam Henderson making 131 not out, inclusive of 12 fours and six sixes and Harry Simpson 37.

The wicket takers for the Northern Cluster Grassroots team were; Tarrique Edward with 3 for 34 in 5 overs, Leon Alexander with 2 for 50 in 8 overs and one wicket each to Joshua Cepal, Isaiah Jones and Tyrel Chicot.

In reply, the Northern Cluster Representative Team reached 117 for 1 in 15.3 overs when the game came to an abrupt end due to rain. Mateo Boulogne and Captain Kimani Melius remained not out on 51 and 49 respectively.

Theo Edward was the batsman dismissed for 12 runs. Daniel Cairns was the lone wicket taker for St Andrew’s University.

Earlier, the Gros Islet Cricket Association/ Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Program continued with their series of exhibition matches on Saturday December 31, 2022 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The teams were captained by Kimani Melius and Jard Goodman.

Jard Goodman’s team batting first in a match reduced to 45 overs a side, made 205 for the loss of 13 wickets in 40.2 overs.

Ryan Goodman led the batting with a determined half century. Ryan Goodman made a well put together 72 inclusive of 7 fours and 2 sixes, Tyrel Chicot 29, Qwaine Henry 23, Tori Hippolyte 17 and Jard Goodman 12.

The wicket takers for Kimani Melius’ team were, Carlson Jones with 4 for 9 in 2.2 overs, Kethan Charlemagne 3 for 32 in 4 overs, Leon Alexander 3 for 67 in 9 overs and 1 wicket each to Lee John and Sanjay Hayle.

In reply Kimani Melius’ team lead by a mature century from Skipper Melius finished on 206 for 6 in 42.5 overs. Kimani Melius made a well played 100 not out with 8 fours and 5 sixes, Johnathan Daniel 22, Jeandell Cyril 20 not out, Mateo Bolougne 17 and 10 each to Lee John and Sanjay Hayle.

The wicket takers for Jard Goodman’s team were, Zayee Antoine with 3 for 45 in 8 overs, Jaden Elibox 2 for 19 in 9 overs and 1 wicket to Tyrel Chicot.
