SKN PM urges residents to take second dose of COVID vaccine

The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, twin-islands urged people to take their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as the nation battles with the novel coronavirus.

Saint Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, twin-islands urged people to take their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as the nation battles with the novel coronavirus.

The Prime Minister, via his social media handle, stated, “There are a number of people who have dates for late June to get their second shot.
You do not need to wait. You can go out any time beyond four weeks and get your second dose.”

He added that “Vaccines are a scarce commodity globally. Ensure that you are vaccinated by getting your second shot today. Get your full protection by getting your second shot in your arm today. Don’t hesitate. Get fully vaccinated.”

According to the statistics, till now, a total of 63.4 per cent of the target population is guarded with their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine and around 25.2 per cent of St Kitts and Nevis population has received their second dose and are fully vaccinated now against the deadly coronavirus.

With the Confirmation of three new COVID-19 cases on 4 June 2021, the total number of the COVID-19 cases in the twin-islands has increased up to eighty-one, out of which a total of fifty-four people have been recovered from the deadly COVID-19 mutant.

So far, the twin-islands has not reported a single death due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Recently, during the monthly press conference, PM Harris informed that despite the shortage of the COVID-19 vaccines in the world, the government of St Kitts and Nevis was able to provide 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the first instance to its people.

He further added that St Kitts and Nevis is well-positioned in this fight against the COVID-19 mutant. He also emphasized that the SKN government has opened significant sectors of the economy, including the manufacturing industry.
