Antigua and Barbuda: The government of Antigua and Barbuda announced that the sixth Sitting of the OECS Assembly is set to be held on March 18, 2022, at 9:30 am. The theme of the Sitting of the OESC Assembly is The Shift: Embracing New Platforms and Innovative Models for Leadership in Sustainability.
Further, the Sitting will be live-streamed on the OECS official Facebook Page. It is also known as the hybrid meeting, which will be held between the members of the Assembly. The members will attend the meeting virtually as well as in person at the Parliament Building in St John’s Antigua.
The OECS Assembly is also known as a deliberative forum in which every leader, whether it is opposition or government members of the parliaments and legislatures. The Assembly has eleven OECS Member States, and a meeting will be held to consider and brings the solution and various matters that impact the OECS region.
The region is highlighted factors on the issue related to climate change, and at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, OECS and the other Caribbean States addressed their concerns to the Conference attendees.
The countries in the Caribbean has been recognized as having great biodiversity hospitals and are also known as Nature Island. The Caribbean consists of a high level of regionally unique species and a severe degree of habitat loss and vulnerability to extinction.
Further, the Assembly will also illustrate various factors related to health, productivity and diversity of the ecosystems of the region and also the biological resources which are essential to economic vitality and overall prosperity.
The sixth Sitting of the OECS Assembly will also provide various discourse on various common issues and positions for the region, proposed initiates and follow up action for the UN Climate Change COP 27 in Egypt and the UN Biodiversity COP 15 in Kunming.
