Six member swim team represents Saint Lucia at 2023 RHAC Kick Off Swim Meet

: A six-member swim team of Saint Lucia, along with Coach Andy Edward and Coach Sherma Barnard, represented Southern Flying Fish at the “2023 RHAC Kick Off Swim Meet” from January 21st - 22nd, 2023.

Castries, Saint Lucia: A six-member swim team of Saint Lucia, along with Coach Andy Edward and Coach Sherma Barnard, represented Southern Flying Fish at the “2023 RHAC Kick Off Swim Meet” from January 21st – 22nd, 2023.

Southern Flying Fish – Swim Club, through its Facebook Page, cited, “We are small, yet we are mighty.”

All swimmers swam a total of six individual events over the two days.

This was the first showing for the year, and the swimmers came out swinging. The club amassed a total of 182 points, placing fourth overall. The entire team made a valiant effort, with every member contributing to the success of the team.

At the end of the two-day meet the point standing per swimmer was as follows:

  • Anyka Holder – 26
  • David Jn Pierre – 30
  • Kaitlyn Holder – 31
  • Krishna Surapaneni – 15
  • Maliyah Henry – 41
  • Najmah Eqra Melchoir – 39

The team secured a total of twelve medals. With the individual count as follows:

  • Anyka Holder – 2 silver, one bronze
  • David Jn Pierre – 1 gold
  • Kaitlyn Holder – 1 silver
  • Maliyah Henry – 2 gold, one silver, one bronze
  • Najmah Eqra Melchoir – 3 gold

The girls relay team of Anyka Holder, Krishna Surapaneni, Kaitlyn Holder and Maliyah Henry placed 2nd in the girls 14 and over, 200 meter freestyle relay, which was an exhibition race as Kaitlyn is below the minimum age of fourteen.

“She did not let that deter her by swimming the second fastest leg after Maliyah in that race. Well swam girls. We at SFF are incredibly proud of the performance of our team and the spectacular start to the 2023 swim season,”said the Swim Club

Swim Club also shared glimpses of the first day of the 2023 RHAC Kick Off Swim Meet, done and dusted. It was an exciting day for the six member team of SFF at the first meet of the year.
