Vicente V̩rez Bencomo Рthe general director of the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV), demonstrated that the inoculation would include 2 doses of Sinopharm and a booster dose of Soberana Plus.

“The World Health Organization has recommended the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine, it has an efficacy of 79%, and there is availability and guarantee for the doses required in a population considered small like that of Cienfuegos.”

As per local media, the island country currently can generate 10 million doses of the anti-COVID-19 Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus vaccines developed by the Finlay Institute.

Verez stated that Cienfuegos would probably be the first province to vaccinate almost the whole adult and pediatric population at the same time since teenagers between 12 and 18 years of age in the provincial capital would also be immunized with two doses of Sovereign 02 and one of Soberana Plus.

In addition, a 346-doctor medical force -who provided health care to fight COVID-19 in Qatar- returned to Cuba on Sunday after 16 months of service in the Arab nation. As the whole unit returns back to Cuba, there were welcomed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who, virtually, highlighted their work and efforts branded as exemplary and efficient.

As per the Public Health Ministry (MINSAP) report, the Cuban doctors treated around 153,952 patients in Qatar, conducted 836,855 nursing procedures and saved 3,411 lives.

This medical brigade includes 267 women and 79 men, of which 52 are specialists in General Comprehensive Medicine – GCM, Intensive and Emergency Therapy, anaesthetists, critical care physicians, & specialists in hygiene and epidemiology, as well as 292 Graduates in Nursing and Health Technologists.

According to the statistics, there are 640,000 confirmed cases of the deadliest COVID-19 vaccine, while 5,144 individuals lost their lives to the mutant. The island is seeing a huge spike in COVID-19 infections from the past weeks.
