Roseau, Dominica: Sari Finn is all set to represent Dominica in the CONCACAF 2023 Road to W’ Gold Cup Football Tournament.

She has been selected by the Football Association and selected to play or women’s football senior national team.

The matches between the 2023 Road to W Gold Cup will be started on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. The tournament serves as the qualifier for CONCACAF’s W Gold Cup which is also known as the region’s premier competition for women’s senior national teams.

The inaugural W Gold Cup will be played between February 17 to March 10, 2024 in the United States.

Sari Finn

Sari Finn is the senior engineering student of the Boston-based Northeastern University who has been selected for the tournament. Sari will line up on the left or right wing when Dominica takes on Surinam in Roseau on September 20.

On her selection, Sari said, “It’s always a pleasure and honor to represent Dominica on the big stage. The last time I played in Roseau was against Bermuda last year and it resulted in a much-needed big win for our team.”

Meanwhile, her younger sister Alanna who plays in the defensive backfield is taking a (2) two-year hiatus from football to allow for the proper healing of a right Achilles Tendon rupture injury she suffered in Demerara, Guyana in February 2022 in a match against Trinidad. That injury needed surgical intervention and an intense six-month physical therapy rehabilitation.

Sari says,’ I would love to play with my sister in Roseau. But her absence also gives her a chance to heal fully and to concentrate on her punishing academic schedule during her second year of college. But I will be leaving everything on the pitch to help my team and for my sister.”
