Castries, Saint Lucia: One realizes that the Festive Season is really upon them as the Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. The Women’s Football competition kicked off at the Anse La Raye playing Field on Saturday, Dec 17 with a doubleheader.

It was truly a time of giving and sharing as Canaries lit up the arena with a 11 goal fest against Dennery. It was a clinical display from the lasses of the West Coast who got their campaign going with a beaver trick from Kylah Solomon in the 27th, 42nd, 43rd and 87th min, a hat trick from Casandra Shepherd 6th, 38th and 55th min a brace from Tanicka Bernard 17th and 20th min and the others from Steffany Allain 22nd and a gift from Krishna Sealy in the 3rd min.

There was no letting up in the other game as defending Champions Vieux Fort South outplayed Desruisseaux 6 – 0. They got their goals from Jerddel Emery with a brace in the 80th and 90th min Jahnya Charlemagne 24th, Emasha Nanton 63rd, Freegeanne Joseph 74th and Kisheema Ince in the 76th min.

History was created on the day as for the first time in thw annals of St. Lucia Football four female officials carried the game between Vieux Fort South and Desruisseaux.

Carrying the whistle was Alvina Francis ably assisted by Irina Wilson, and Niuika Farlane with Kierra Clarke serving as the Fourth Official. They must be complimented for their tenacity, interest and dedication to the Sports.

Congratulations to them all. Seven teams have registered to participate in the tournament.
