Castries, Saint Lucia: The berth of Celebrity Millennium in Port Castries on October 19, 2022, marked the official opening of the 2022/23 cruise tourism season. The Ministry of Tourism, Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority, and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority were on hand to welcome the crewmembers and guests to the sights and sounds of stilt walkers and pulsating steel pan music.

“We are just so happy to be back in the country after two and a half years, feels awesome,” remarked Andrea Muegge- Hotel Director, Celebrity Millennium.

Guests were gifted with VIP packages and expressed their excitement about the excursions that they were headed to. The country is the Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination and it is a great joy that many individuals and businesses will benefit from the cruise tourism season, which promises to be impactful.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the Ministry of Tourism of Saint Lucia announced the commencement of the 2022/2023 cruise season with the arrival of Celebrity Millennium.

Amid the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sector reopened in 2021 and recorded a total of three hundred and seventeen (317) cruise calls. The country also welcomed the two hundred and forty thousand, five hundred and sixty-seven (240,567) cruise passengers onto the shores of the country The cruise calls were held during the period from June 2021 to September 2022.

The Ministry of Tourism considered the significance of the cruise sector as it boosts the arrival of tourists. Many operators, including tourism transportation, vendors, small business owners in communities, sites and attractions, restaurants, as well as other industry stakeholders, welcomed the cruise season. 

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) has also hosted the Inaugural ‘Say Yes to Saint Lucia’ Global Romance Summit from October 13th -17th 2022.
