Saint Lucia wins Table tennis and Volleyball championships at Caribbean level
Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia made history again, producing the first player from the OECS to win a singles title at the Caribbean level. Leshon Francis just won the under-11 finals 3-0 of Table Tennis. He is now the Caribbean Under-11 Champion.
Manie Eleuthere is now the Caribbean Under-13 Champion, and Shantal Charles is now crowned the Caribbean’s top Under-13 player having won her finals match 3-1 becoming the first Saint Lucian and OECS female to ever win a Caribbean table tennis title.
Saint Lucia fielded a male Under-13 team of three boys – Manie Eleuthera, Vernon Salvator and Leshon Francis, who won the boy’s team event. Shatal Charles competed in the girl’s Under-13 singles.
Shatal, along with Manie Eleuthere, made it to the finals in their respective categories. Meanwhile, Leshon Francis qualified for the singles finals in the Under-11 category. Manie Eleuthera and Leshon Francis both qualified for the semi-finals of the Boys Under-13 doubles. All finals will be played on Wednesday morning.
St Lucia’s Volleyball team has captured the 2022 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association champions. They won the British Virgin Islands in straight sets on Sunday night in Saint Maarten to claim the victory. Offering up congratulatory praises to the team, Sports Minister Kenson Casimir asserted that team Saint Lucia was completely dominant in the competition.
Saint Lucia National Female Volleyball Team captured the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Championship in St. Maarten over the weekend. Special commendations to my former student, constituent and player, Kerin Neptune who walked away with the following awards:
1. Best Outside Hitter
2. Best Server
3. Best Receiver
4. Most Valuable Player of the tournament
Shout out to her 758 teammates; Yoshabel, Tyna, Skye, Chenoa, Clio, Cindy, Kashima, Amilia, Gemima and Darla. The 758 team, led by Kerin beat the BVI 3-0 in the final to emerge as the top team ahead of BVI, Antigua, Grenada, St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Eustacius.
