Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2022 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary School 40 Overs Under – 15 School Cricket Tournament resumed on Monday, July 4, with a quarter-final action.

At the Piaye Playing Field, Leon Hess Comprehensive advanced closer to the finals with a comfortable 88 run victory over Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary.

Batting first in a game reduced to 20 overs a side due to a late start Leon Hess Comprehensive made 121 for 6 in their quota of over, with Aaron St Clair making 34, Aden Scollar 14, Zachary Gokool 12 and Bjorn Fanis 10.

The wicket-takers for Vieux Fort Comprehensive were, Mike Naithum with 2 for 14 in 4 overs, Djorne Felix 2 for 15 in 4 overs and 1 with a piece to Dermari Ferdinand and Kurlan Neptune.

In reply, Vieux Fort Comprehensive was dismissed for 33 in 13.1 overs with no batsmen reaching double figures.

Doing the damage for Leon Hess Comprehensive were leg spinner Leon Alexander with 5 for 6 in 4 overs, Aden Scollar with 2 for 4 in 4 overs, Aaron St Clair 2 for 7 in 4 overs and Zachary Gokool with 1 wicket.

RESULT: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED VIEUX FORT COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 88 RUNS.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, St Mary’s College earned themselves a 52 run victory over Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School.

St Mary’s College winning the toss and batting first in a game reduced to 21 overs a side made 188 for 6 in their allotment of overs with Tyler Venner top scoring with a well played 90 not out which included eight fours and six sixes.

Other useful contributions came from Nayo John with 20 and Dante Eugene with 10.

The wicket takers for Soufriere Comprehensive were, Eleazar Cazaubon with three wickets, Jashawn Mitchelle with two and Samuel Alexander with 1.

In reply, Soufriere Comprehensive finished on 136 for 9 in their quota of 20 overs with Dervel Jn Philip making 42 , Leshawn St. Prix 21 and Jashawn Mitchelle 15.

The wicket takers for SMC were Dante Eugene with four wickets, Ruben Raynolds and Xhan Riviere with two wickets each and Aden Daniel with 1.

RESULT: ST MARY’S COLLEGE DEFEATED SOUFRIERE COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 52 RUNS.

The final match in the quarter final stage of the tournament will take place on Tuesday July 5 from 10:00am between the St Lucia Sports Academy and Corinth Secondary at the Mindoo Philip Park
