Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Tourism Authority hosted the prize-giving ceremony for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) in January 2023 at the Sandals Golf and Country Club on Sunday, February 12, 2023. The sails came down on ARC January 2023, with a prize-giving ceremony held this evening at the Sandals Golf & County Club.
The vessels set sail from Las Palmas in two divisions in early January and have all crossed the finish line into the IGY Rodney Bay Marina, arriving at a much faster pace than during the inaugural race in 2022.
Tourism Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire thanked the participants for choosing Saint Lucia yet again and congratulated them for braving such a phenomenal feat.
Saint Lucia has been home to the ARC for 33 years and continues to work in tandem with the World Cruising Club to develop this leading maritime product. Just last year, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority signed a contract that makes the destination home to the World ARC for three more years.
Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Ernest Hilaire also shared glimpses of the Prize giving ceremony for the Atlantic Rally Cruisers. He attended the ceremony and addressed the gatherings.
“Yesterday, I attended the Prize Giving Ceremony for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) January 2023 at the Sandals Golf and Country Club, “Ernest Hilaire added.
The cruisers this year finished the race at the Rodney Bay IGY Marina much faster than the race in January 2022.
He extended his support and added that they continue to support these ARC races alongside the World Cruising Club, with Saint Lucia being the home of ARC for the last 33 years.
While extending greetings and wishes, Ernest Hilaire stated,” Congratulations to all the cruisers who participated in the race, and I look forward to seeing you in December for ARC December.”
The 2022 ARC fleet is getting closer to the finish line. Malolo is presently the 1st in all boats and the 1st in Multihulls. If the current pace is maintained, Malolo could cross the finish line on Friday, December 2, 2022…that’s only 3 days away
