Castries, Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Youth, Development and Sports of Saint Lucia is all set to host the Picnic and Art Party with an aim to celebrate World Children’s Day. The party will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Maranatha Gardens, Soufriere. The timings will be 9 am to 1 pm. 

World Children’s Day, also known as Universal Children’s Day, is observed every year on November 20. It was created to encourage children’s unity and worldwide awareness. This year will be no exception as the ministry celebrate the kids under the theme, “Inclusion, For Every Child.”

To celebrate the day a Picnic and Art Party for all sixth-graders from Soufriere Primary School, Bouton R.C. Combined School, Fond Saint Jacques Primary School, and Les Etangs Combined School has been planned by Edisa Eugene, the youth worker for Soufriere/ Fond St. Jacques, will collaborate with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports – Saint Lucia and UNICEF.

This event will take place on Friday, November 18 2022, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Maranatha Gardens. This program seeks to provide students with a chance to decompress and learn in a pleasant way that differs from the norm. Students are asked to dress in jeans and t-shirts for this activity.

As part of activities to commemorate International Children’s Day 2022, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports – Saint Lucia partnered with UNICEF and hygienics business, Evolve and Change Slu, to help educate children in the Roseau area about good personal hygiene and self-love.

On Tuesday November 15, Youth Worker responsible for the area, Nazan Hutchinson coordinated a visit to the Roseau Combined, and La Croix Maingot Combined schools to share knowledge on the subject with students.

At the end of each talk/workshop, the children were equipped with care packages prepared with contributions from Evolve and Change, Massy Distribution, and the Ministry of Health.
