Saint Lucia will host the Lantern Masters Competition with an aim to uplift skilled artists. The event will be staged on Saturday, December 10th 2022, at Constitution Park from 4:00 p.m.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia will host the Lantern Masters Competition under the theme” A new beginning: Light, Love, Peace”. The event will be staged on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at Constitution Park from 4:00 p.m.

The Cultural Development Foundation of Saint Lucia took to Facebook and announced the regulations of the competition. The purpose of the competition is to provide a suitable platform for artists to showcase their talents and skills in various fields.

The participants will have to register for the competition, and the registration fee is $250.00.

The Cultural Development Foundation of Saint Lucia has called all costume builders, skilled artists, experienced lantern builders, and corporate and commercial sector entities to challenge their creative talents and get into the Christmas spirit.

The Cultural Development Foundation prepares to stage its first-ever December Festivals – Lantern Masters Competition. Lantern Making/Competition and Festival of Light is a cultural tradition bringing Saint Lucians together in celebration of light.

The Lantern Masters Competition is anticipated to stimulate interest and participation amongst Saint Lucians, particularly the experts. This activity adds innovation, creativity and diversity to the December festivities and is open to participants 18 years and over under the theme “New Beginnings: Love Light, Peace”.

The top three winners will be awarded monetary prizes ofĀ

The entry requirements are as follows:

  • Participants must be 18 and Over
  • Lanterns must be minimum 6 ft high and 5 ft wide able to withstand outdoor elements power operated centered around the theme.
  • Lanterns can be constructed in teams
  • All entries must be original

CDF noted, “Saint Lucians are a talented bunch. At the CDF, we are committed to nurturing and cultivating talent and providing platforms for our artists to showcase their skills. This morning, the staff was serenaded with the sweet sounds of Steel Pan and Sax by Manasseh Edward and Barthelmy Gustave.”Ā 

Earlier, CDF hosted the 3rd annual best of the best competition with the theme: “š“ššš¢š°ššš§ š’ššš¢š§š­ š‹š®šœš¢šš š–ššš„š¤ š“šØš šžš­š”šžš«”.

The foundation announced the winners of the competitions, which are as follows:Ā 

  • First Place – “Soar Together” and Team: Gilland Avril, Kissia Peter and Denise Ryan
  • Second Place and People’s Choice Award- “The Beauty of Nature” and Team: Joy Grant, Perry Martial and Savitri Jn, Marie
  • Third Place- “A Meeting with Friends” and team: Desmond Walcott Jr. and Desiree Walcott
