Saint Lucia to host cricket matches against opponents from schools in UK

Over the next two weeks, local young cricketers of Saint Lucia ages 13 years and below will be engaged in a number of cricket matches against opponents from schools in the UK.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Over the next two weeks, local young cricketers of Saint Lucia ages 13 years and below will be engaged in a number of cricket matches against opponents from schools in the UK.

On Friday, March 24, the Northern Cluster Grassroots 13 and Under Representative Team came up against St Martin’s Northwood Under 13’s at the Gros Islet Playing Field in a game severely affected by rain.

Batting first, the Northern Cluster Grassroots Team was on 25 without loss when rain brought an end to the match. The not out batters were Daniel Lorde on 9 and Kareem Francis on 4.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Thursday, March 23, 2023 with a general training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. 

The Saturday morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program continued on March 18, 2023 with another cricket enhancement and development training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. 

The programme took the following format:

* Prayers/ Welcome

* Warm up activities (catching game).

* Throwing/ Fielding drills.

* Nets.

* Younger participants ages 11 years and under were engaged in game sense in batting & bowling).

* Mini cricket match.

The coaches who facilitated the training session were Alton Crafton, Allian Asby and Stuart Calderon.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Monday, March 20, 2023 with a general training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. 

The Northern Cluster Grassroots Early Morning Cricket Conditioning and Training Session took place on Tuesday March 21, 2023 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. (6:00am – 8:30am). 

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Tuesday, March 21 , 2023 with a general training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
