Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority on July 28th held a press conference to update on Saint Lucia’s performance within the tourism industry during the first seven months of 2022. The conference took place in Canaries at a registered property within the Collection de Pe’pites brand, Villa Bocean.
The conference focused on visitor arrival performance and highlighted March and June 2022 as the best performing months thus far. Within markets, performance over that of 2019 has also been recorded.
Lucian Carnival was highlighted as the most major event thus far for 2022. Preliminary data reveals that the island welcomed a total of 9,456 visitors by air only, in the 7 days leading up to Carnival Monday.
Additionally, two exciting programs were unveiled to the media. This includes a Saint Lucian Diaspora outreach Program dubbed “Lucian Links” and an adventure and spirit-filled destination immersion experience, “Kabawe’ Krawl.” The official launch of these programs will take place in the weeks ahead when more information will be provided.
The hosting of the press conference welcomed the use of services within the community including catering, bartending, security, and entertainment. The strides made within the industry reflect the ethos of our people and sustainability as a desired tourism destination.
