Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation is all set to host the “Open Water Swimming Jamboree” on March 26, 2023. The event will be held at Pigeon Point Beach, Gros Islet.
The open water swimming will feature numerous events such as relays, races, freestyle and many more. Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation has invited the citizens who are potential swimmers to take part in the competition and get the chance to enhance their swimming skills. Registration for the open water swimming is open for all and the competitors can register at the cost of $25.
The schedule of the events is as follows:
- The first event of Open Water Swimming is the relay race. The races will be held in the different categories which are 200M, 400M, 1K, 2KM, 3KM, 5KM, 4x100M and 4x400M.
- The races will be started at 8: 30 am
- The Open Water Swimming event will also host registration and briefing for the competition from 7: 00 am to 7: 45 am. The briefing will feature awareness about the competition and make the contestants know about the guidelines of the open water.
- The deadline for registration is March 20, 2023.
- The specific age groups are allowed to take part in the open water swimming. The age groups such as 8 and under 9 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 14, 15, to 17, 18 to 24, 25 to 35, 36 to 45, 46 to 55 and 56 and over will be allowed to take part in the open water swimming.
- Open water swimming will feature BAR-B-Q and brinks are on sale.

Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation is used to host such swimming events including the SLAF Independence swimming championships on Saturday, February 25 and 26 at Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre.
