Saint Lucia set to host Islands Champs 2023, know schedule

Saint Lucia is all set to host Island Champs for secondary school athletes under the theme- "It's secondary school sports reimagined" on March 26, 2023.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia is all set to host Island Champs 2023 for secondary school athletes under the theme- “It’s secondary school sports reimagined” on March 26, 2023. The championship will feature three stages such as Northern Qualifiers, Semi-Finals and Finals. 

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia took to Facebook and shared an update on Island Champs, and invited the citizens to be part of the championship. The Sports Ministry stated that the initiative will encourage the athletes of Saint Lucia in their sporting field and provide them with a chance to excel. 

Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia added, “ISLAND CHAMPS – 26TH MARCH 2023, SOUFRIERE MINI STADIUM – It’s secondary school sports reimagined.” 

Sports Ministry invited the former students of competing secondary schools and said, “All former students of competing secondary schools, come support your team.”

While sharing the schedule of the championship, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports stated that the championship will include various sporting events. 

The schedule is as follows: 

  1. Firstly the championship will feature “Northern Qualifiers” between different teams, and the winning teams will move to the next level. The qualifiers will be held on March 15 and 16 at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and Sports Academy.
  2. Secondly, the championship will feature “Semi-Finals” between different teams and the winning teams will advance to the finals of the Island Championship. The qualifiers will be held on March 21 and 23. The semi-finals between the teams will be held at the stadium named Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and Sports Academy.
  3. Thirdly, the championship will host “Finals” between the two finals which will secure victory in the semi-finals of the Island Championship. The winning team will be declared the champions of the Island Champs. The finals will be held on March 26 at Soufriere Mini Stadium.
