Castries, Saint Lucia: Two matches were played in the Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. Island Cup on Thursday 12th, January at the Gros Islet Playing Field in Saint Lucia. In the evening’s opener, and despite a soggy outfield, La Clery though being a goal down put on a clinical display to get past Central Castries 5 – 2.
This they achieved with a brace from Andrus Remy in the 41st and 51st min, Shaquille Joseph a penalty in the 44th, Donavan Phillip 74th and Malik St. Prix in the 84th min. Scoring for Central Castries were Joshua Boland 16th and Jamal Wilfred a penalty in the 55th min.
In the other game played Vieux Fort North created what many considered an upset defeating Gros Islet 2 – 1. They got their goals from Dillon Fanis 9th and Devon O Brian in the 24th min. Troy Greenidge scored for Gros Islet in the 63rd min.
Meanwhile, please be advised that as a result of the number of Girls who currently participate in the Senior Women’s Championship, the issue of the time for matches at night has become an issue for the SLFA’s Inc. scrutiny.
As a result, they have decided to undertake to develop a new schedule that will allow all the Girls to play without having to cut short their participation in their various teams.
As such, SLFA Inc. has developed a new schedule which will be circulated in the following week. The matches that will take place in the immediate future are as follows and these will be the last set of matches to be played at these times and on weekdays.

- Canaries vs Anse La Raye – 6.00 pm
- Dennery vs. Soufriere – 8.00 pm
- Monday 16th January 2023 – Desruisseaux Playing Field
- Desruisseaux vs National Under 20 – 6.00 pm
- Vieux Fort South vs Central Castries – 8.00 pm.
Matches resumed in the SLFA Inc. Island Cup competition on Tuesday, 10th January 2023 where one match was played at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.
In the lone encounter, Babonneau, after enjoying a 2 – 1 cushion at half time was forced to settle for a 2 – 2 draw against Micoud. Scoring for Babonneau were Rahiem Lionel and Seige Osman in the 4th and 17th minute, while Cody Fanius 12th and Andre Alvez 79th min netted for Micoud.
Elsewhere, in the Antigua Premier League week 6, Grenades FC defeated SAP FC by 7-1. St. Lucian International Tev Lawrence scored a hat trick while Ridel Stanislas, Quinton Griffith, Rakeem Henry and Carl Osbourne scored the others.
