Castries, Saint Lucia: The Government of Saint Lucia has undertaken the rehabilitation of a feeder road at La Borne, Monchy. This is in an effort to improve accessibility to and road safety in the area.

Due to the seclusion of the community, residents have complained that the unpaved road poses a risk to elderly residents, especially in the event of an emergency.

Kenson Casimir, Minister for Youth Development and Sports and the Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet said: “We know that we have a number of elderly people living higher up, and we have seen some of the videos about ambulances trying to get to persons who are sick, so we decided that we are going to provide some intervention at making the road a little more motorable. I am very happy today, and the community seems very happy. We may not have all the money in the world to do everything that we need, but we are going to ensure that we make people’s lives a little more comfortable one day at a time.”

The project is being undertaken in a phased approach and is being executed by CIE Construction Ltd.
