The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports continued with the preparation of the National Under 15 Cricket Team over the past weekend (November 26 & 27) with 2 Trial/ Practice Matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
Saint Lucia: Preparation of National U-15 Cricket Team in full swing
Castries, Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports continued with the preparation of the National Under 15 Cricket Team over the past weekend (November 26 & 27) with 2 Trial/ Practice Matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
On Saturday in a match scheduled for 45 overs a side, Theo Edward’s team batting first reached 247 for 6 in 43 overs in their allotted time with Aaron St Clair top scoring with 73 not out which included nine fours and three sixes, captain Theo Edward 60 with nine fours and two sixes.
Other useful scores came from Zanaki Louis with 28, Cody Fontenelle 20 and Jermaine Thomas 12. The wicket takers for Johnathan Daniel’s team were, Jeanille William with 2 for 26 in 5 overs and one wicket each to Leon Alexander, Christian Peter and Kaylum Neptune.
In response Johnathan Daniel’s Team closed their inning on 223 for 7 in 29 overs when bad light brought an end to the day’s play. Tyler Venner following his century last weekend top scored with 65 not out with 8 fours and 1 six, Donte Fontenelle 29, Leon Alexander 18, Jeanille William 17, Jaden Khodra 12 not out and Christian Peter 11.
The wicket takers for Theo Edward’s team were, Aaron St Clair with 2 for 32 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Kaylum Thomas, Aiden Scolar, Neil Poyotte, Cody Fontenelle and Zachary Gokool.
On Sunday the entire morning session was lost due to wet run ups. The coaches profited that opportunity to engage the young cricketers in catching and fielding activities.
In the afternoon session the two teams took on each other in a 20/20 match. Theo Edward’s team batting first made 121 for the lost of 10 wickets in their allotted 20 overs with Aaron St Clair making 21, Clint Dixon 20, Aiden Scolor 15 and Zachary Gokool 15 not out.
The wicket takers for Johnathan Daniel’s team were, Leon Alexander with 2 for 12 in 3 overs, Kaylam Neptune 2 for 21 in 3 overs, Christian Peter 2 for 27 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Denzie Jn Paul, Jeanille William and Shealawn Daniel.
In response, Johnathan Daniel’s team finished on 125 for 4 in 19.1 overs. Skipper Johnathan Daniel led the scoring with 39 not out, Jeanille William made 39 not out and Leon Alexander 25.
The wicket takers for Theo Daniel’s team were, Aaron St Clair with 3 for 20 in 4 overs and 1 wicket to Clint Dixon.
