The Firearms Bill has been strengthened to give the Judiciary additional latitude to put away gun crime offenders longer and impose higher cash penalties on criminals convicted of firearm offences.
The government of Saint Lucia also announced tougher penalties for Gun Crimes.
- Indictable firearm offences can attract 25-yea prison sentences and XCD 50,000 fines
- A minimum XCD 30,000 fine for unlicensed firearm and ammunition possession.
- The court can impose a minimum 10-year prison sentence for summary firearm offences.
