Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association named a 13-man team and four reserves to represent Saint Lucia in the 2023 Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) Under 19 cricket tournament scheduled to start on Sunday 16th April at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and the Gros Islet playing field.

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia took to Facebook and shared the update on social media. Tarrique Edward who leads the Windward Islands Under 17 team in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) tournament and is on the CWI Under19 Provisional Squad for the World Cup will have the distinct privilege of being captain of the Under 19 team.

Fast bowler Shawnil Edward, will have alongside him Kevin Gassie, Sky La Feuille, and Aaron Joseph (fast bowlers), while Tarrique Edward, Royce Paul, and Amari Venner will lead Saint Lucia charge in the spin department.

Opening batsman Khan Elcock who struck two centuries, one at the Sandals Under 19 final and the other at the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 19 Schools finals is expected to lead the batting department with the support of talented Under 15 player Theo Edward.

The team will be coached by former West Indies ODI slow left-arm Orthodox bowler Garey Mathurin, while Dave Albert will serve as Manager / Physiotherapist. Saint Lucia will open their campaign on Sunday 16th versus Dominica at the DSCG. Then play Grenada on Monday 17th and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday 19th at the same venue.

The 3rd and fourth-place playoffs will take place at the Gros Islet playing field, while the final is scheduled for the DSCG on Friday 21st. The full squad reads: Tarrique Edward (captain), Royce Paul, Noel Leo, Amari Venner, Johnathan Daniel, Theo Edward, Leon Alexander, Bolton Sayers, Shawnil Edward, Aaron Joseph, Kevin Gassie, Sky La Feuille, and Khan Elcock.
