Castries, Saint Lucia: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL is the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 19, 50 Overs Cricket Champion of Saint Lucia. 

In the tournament’s Grand Finals, which took place on Tuesday, April 4, at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Leon Hess Secondary, led by a commanding century from KHAN ELCOCK and a 5-wicket haul by AIDEN SCHOLAR, completed a well-deserved 197-run victory over the Saint Lucia Sports Academy.

Leon Hess Comprehensive, batting first after being inserted by the Saint Lucia Sports Academy, made 281 all out in 40.2 overs, with captain KHAN ELCOCK leading from the front with a magnificent century.

The classy left-handed batsman made a superb 102 in 94 balls, inclusive of 8 fours and five sixes. Other useful contributions came from Jewelle Simon with 43, Tristan Scholar with 30 and Isaiah Jones 28.

The wicket-takers for the Saint Lucia Sports Academy were; medium pace bowler Jordan Emmanuel with 5 for 11 in 4 overs, Sheldon Willie with 3 for 76 in 10 overs, Ashton Alexander with 1 for 31 in 5.2 overs and skipper; Kensley Paul with 1 for 36 in 4 overs.

In reply, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy found the going tough, failing to negotiate Leon Hess’ spinners and was bowled out for 84 in 19.4 overs, with Kensley Paul making 26 and Zanakki Louis 15.

Left arm chinerman bowler; AIDEN SCHOLAR was Leon Hess Comprehensive’s chief destroyer with stand-out figures of 6 for 34 in 7.4 overs. Off-spinner; Tori Hippolyte lent excellent support with 3 for 11 in 4 overs. The other wicket-taker was seamer; Darvin Forde with 1 for 16 in 6 overs.
