Saint Lucia: Know results of two matches played in U13 UK schools cricket tour

The UK 13 years and under schools cricket tour of Saint Lucia continued on Tuesday March 28, 2023 with two matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field. 

Castries, Saint Lucia: The UK 13 years and under schools cricket tour of Saint Lucia continued on Tuesday March 28, 2023 with two matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field. 

In the first match of the day, the Northern Cluster Grassroots team defeated Newland House School from the UK comfortably by six wickets. The Newland House School batting first was restricted to 76 all out in 13.4 overs. The wicket takers for the Northern Cluster Grassroots Team were, Kanil Nelson, Kareem Francis and Cayden Francois with 2 wickets each and I wicket a piece to Neil Poyotte, Daniel Lorde and Cypriani Norville.

In reply, the Northern Cluster team of Saint Lucia easily got to their target, finishing on 77 for 4 in 9 overs with Kanil Nelson making 15, Neil Poyotte 13 and Cayden Francois 8 not out.

In the second match of the day, the Northern Cluster Grassroots team of Saint Lucia again won over their UK opponents St Paul’s School in a Super Over after the scores were tied.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots team batting first made 154 for 3 in 20 overs with Ethan Perineau making 28 not out, Daniel Lorde 26 retired, Kareem Francis 25, Kanil Nelson 10 and Neil Poyotte 9 not out. In reply, the St Paul’s School made 154 for 9 in their 20 overs, the identical score made by The Northern Cluster Grassroots Team.

The wickets for the Grassroots boys were, Neil Poyotte with 4 for 12 in 4 overs, Daniel Lorde 2 for 16 in 2 overs and 1 wicket each to Kareem Francis and Cayden Francois. In a Super Over, St Paul’s School batting first was bowled out for 0 with Neil Poyotte picking up both wickets with his off-spin. In reply, the Northern Cluster Grassroots team finished on 4 without loss, winning what was a very exciting match.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 with a general training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground of Saint Lucia.
