Castries, Saint Lucia: Two more games were completed as the Preliminary Group Stage matches in the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Tuesday, March 14.

Victories were recorded for Saint Lucia Sports Academy over Castries Comprehensive Secondary and Corinth Secondary over Stanley Jon Odlum Secondary.

RESULT: SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DEFEATED CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 160 RUNS

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Saint Lucia Sports Academy completed a comfortable 160-run victory over Castries Comprehensive Secondary.

St. Lucia Sports Academy chose to bat after winning the toss in a game reduced to 45 overs; a side made 304 for 6 in 35 overs at the cut-off time.

Kensley Paul, with his 2nd century of the tournament thus far, led the batting for his team with a well-played 114, inclusive of 15 fours and five sixes, skipper Theo Edward 66 with 13 fours and 1 six, Ashton Alexander 60 with eight fours and four sixes, Jordan Emmanuel 15 and Jeremiah Fedee 10.

The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive Secondary were; Kaylum Thomas with 4 for 49 in 9 overs and Kaden Francois with 2 for 48 in 9 overs.

In reply, Castries Comprehensive of Saint Lucia was dismissed for 144 in 25.4 overs, with Elaser Charlemagne making 33, 16 each to J’Dell Louis and Jaiquan Sam, Vince Rogers 14 and Kisan Brown 11.

Seam bowler; Sheldon Willie was the chief wicket taker for the St. Lucia Sports Academy with wonderful bowling figures of 6 for 45 in 6.4 overs.

The other wicket takers were; Nathaniel Joseph, Clint Dixon and Zanaki Louis, with one wicket each.

RESULT: CORINTH SECONDARY OF SAINT LUCIA DEFEATED STANLEY JON ODLUM SECONDARY BY 9 WICKETS.

At the Mindoo Philip Park of Saint Lucia, Corinth Secondary had the better of Stanley Jon Odlum, winning convincingly by nine wickets.

Stanley Jon Odlum Secondary batting first was restricted to 116 for 9 in 32 overs, with Deshawn Polius making 52 with eight fours and 1 six and Nikki Ferdinand 13.

The wicket takers for Corinth Secondary were; Merkenry St. Luce with 3 for 6 in 4 overs, Judah Stapleton with 2 for 7 in 3 overs and one wicket each to Jaedon Khodra, Jeandell Cyril and Roystan Fannis.

In reply, Corinth Secondary of Saint Lucia, led by a half-century from opener Roystan Fannis easily got to their target, finishing on 117 for 1 in 15 overs. Roystan Fannis remained on 53 not out with eight fours, Ethan Perineau 38 and Neil Poyotte 12 not out.

FOUR PRELIMINARY ROUND MATCHES TO BE PLAYED THIS WEEK, WILL COMPLETE THIS STAGE OF THE TOURNAMENT. THE KNOCKOUT ROUND OF MATCHES IS EXPECTED TO BE PLAYED FROM THE WEEK OF MARCH 20 IN SAINT LUCIA.

4. (Friday 17) Patrica D James Secondary vs Castries Comprehensive @ Mindoo Phillip.
