Saint Lucia: Know results of semi-finals of 2023 Sports Ministry Cricket Tournament

The Grand Finals of the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Cricket Tournament will be contested between the Saint Lucia Sports Academy and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Grand Finals of the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Cricket Tournament will be contested between the Saint Lucia Sports Academy and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary.

In Semi Final action on Wednesday March 29, St Lucia Sports Academy had the better of St Mary’s College, winning by 27 runs and Leon Hess Comprehensive won over Choiseul Secondary by six wickets. At the Gros Islet Playing Field, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy batting first against St Mary’s College made 225 for 6 in their allocation of 40 overs with the tournament’s leading run scorer Kensley Paul top scored with 57 inclusive of 5 fours and four sixes.

Other useful scores came from Ashton Alexander with 49, Zanaki Louis 36 and Jeremiah Fedee 27. The wicket takers for St Mary’s College were, Nayo John with 2 for 30 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Yulieski Gustave, Xhan Riviere, Zhanni Joseph and Dante Eugene.

In reply, St Mary’s College started the run chase confidently with an opening stand of 120 between openers Yulieki Gustave and Kanil Nelson, but loss wickets regularly and were eventually dismissed for 198 in 38.3 overs. 

Kanil Nelson made 47, Yulieki Gustave 44, Yunieski Gustave 15 and Zhanni Joseph 12. The wicket takers for the St Lucia Sports Academy were, Sheldon Willie with 3 for 45 in 9 overs, Kensley Paul 3 for 46 in 8 overs and 1 wicket each to Jalani Joseph and Jordon Emmanuel.

RESULT: SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DEFEATED ST MARY’S COLLEGE BY 27 RUNS.

At the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary batting first in a game reduced to 39 overs a side were restricted to 154 for 8 in 39 overs with Denze Jn Paul making 59, Arnez Boulogne 24 and Jude Joseph 21.

The wicket takers for Leon Hess Comprehensive were, Isaiah Jones, Davin Forde, Aiden Scholor and Bjorn Fanis with 2 wickets each. In reply, Leon Hess Comprehensive comfortably got to their target finishing on 156 for 4 in 16.2 overs with Tori Hippolyte leading the way with 51 not out, Jewel Simon 38 and Khan Elcock 30.

Bowling for Choiseul Secondary, Jermain Thomas 2 for 51 in 5 overs.

RESULT: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE DEFEATED CHOISEUL SECONDARY BY 6 WICKETS.
