
Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued in Saint Lucia on Wednesday, March 22 with Quarterfinals action at venues island wide.
Advancing into the semi final stage of the tournament are, LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY, ST MARY’S COLLEGE, SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY and CHOISEUL SECONDARY.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Leon Hess Comprehensive enjoyed a 155 run victory over Corinth Secondary. Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary batting first after been inserted by Corinth Secondary, made 269 for 6 in 35 overs at the cut-off time.
Leading the scoring for Leon Hess was opening batsman JEWEL SIMON with his 2nd century of the tournament. The elegant right-handed batsman SIMON made a magnificent 127 inclusive of 16 fours and three sixes.
Darvin Forde lent excellent support with an attacking half century. Forde made a rapid 69 not out with seven fours and four sixes, and Isaiah Jones contributed 32.
The wicket takers for Corinth Secondary were Judah Stapleton with 2 for 34 in 7 overs, Jeandell Cyril with 2 for 51 in 9 overs and one wicket each to Jaden Khodra and MarKenry St Luce.
In reply, Corinth Secondary was dismissed for 114 in 22.3 overs with Jeandell Cyril making 49 and Judah Stapleton 17. The wicket takers for Leon Hess Comprehensive were, Aaron St Clair with 3 for 14 in 4 overs, Darvin Forde with 3 for 26 in 5 overs, Isaiah Jones with 2 for 1 in 3.3 overs and one wicket to Bjorn Fanis.
RESULT: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED CORINTH SECONDARY BY 155 RUNS IN SAINT LUCIA.
At the Mindoo Philip Park, St Mary’s College had the better of Vieux-Fort Comprehensive, winning by five wickets. Vieux-Fort Comprehensive Secondary batting first was dismissed for 168 in 37.3 overs with David Naitram making 68 with 9 fours and 1 six, Kamanie Laure 26 and 12 each to Garette Alphonse and D’ Andre Napoleon.
The wicket takers for St Mary’s College were, Yunieski Gustave with 3 for 24 in 5.3 overs, Nayo John with 3 for 36 in 9 overs, Zhanni Joseph with 2 for 20 in 7 overs and one wicket each to Yulieski Gustave and Zhan Riviere.
In reply, St Mary’s College got to their target finishing on 172 for 5 in 35.2 overs, with Johnathan Daniel leading the way with 79 with ten fours and three sixes, Tyler Venner 36 not out and Yunieski Gustave 12.
The wickets takers for Vieux Fort Comprehensive were D’ Andre Napoleon with 2 for 13 in 2.2 overs, Kamanie Laure with 2 for 51 in 9 overs, and one wicket to Jason James.
RESULT: ST MARY’S COLLEGE DEFEATED VIEUX FORT COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 5 WICKETS IN SAINT LUCIA.
At the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary School defeated Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary using the D/L Method by 111 runs. Choiseul Secondary batting first, made 321 for 8 in their allocated 42 overs with Jude Joseph making 58, Jeanille Williams 56 and Denzie Jn Paul 40.
The wicket takers for Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary were, Damien Aurelien with 4 for 59 in 7 overs and Sylvan James 2 for 39 in 9 overs. Set a revised victory target of 111 due to rain, Clendon Mason was bowled out for 49 in 20.1 overs with Junior Deterville making 16
The wicket takers for Choiseul Secondary were, Jermaine Thomas with 3 for 6 in 3.1 overs and 2 wickets each to Sherquan Thomas,Arnez Boulongue and Jeanille Williams.
RESULT: CHOISEUL SECONDARY SCHOOL DEFEATED CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL SECONDARY SCHOOL BY 111 RUNS IN SAINT LUCIA.
At the Wenn Playing Field, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy registered a comfortable 195 run victory over Micoud Secondary. Saint Lucia Sports Academy batting first and led by a wonderful century from Windward Islands Under 15 Captain THEO EDWARD made 271 for 6 in 33 overs.
Theo Edward led from the front for his team with a well constructed 135 which included 20 fours and four sixes. Other useful scores came from Zanaki Louis with 37, Jordon Emmanuel 29 and Kensley Paul 12.
The wicket takers for Micoud Secondary were, Seth Reneau with 2 for 46 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Alexus Charles, Cody Fontenelle, Elijah Charles and Dante Fontinelle.
In reply, Micoud Secondary closed their inning on 76 for 8 in 16.3 overs with Cody Fontenelle making 20, Keshawn Charles 17 not out and Elijah Charles 14.
The wicket takers for the Saint Lucia Sports Academy were, Nathaniel Joseph with 4 for 26 in 6 overs, Theo Edward with 2 for 17 in 2 overs and one wicket each to Sheldon Willie and Zanaki Louis.
RESULT: THE SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DEFEATED MICOUD SECONDARY BY 195 RUNS.
