Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools 50 Over Cricket Tournament in Saint Lucia continued on Thursday, March 2, with four matches.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy completed a huge 436 run victory over Entrepot Secondary. Saint Lucia Sports Academy batting first, made 483 for 3 in 35 overs, the highest team score of the tournament thus far with, centuries for Kensely Paul and Jordan Emmanuel.
Kensely Paul led the scoring with a brilliant 161 inclusive of 23 fours and 4 sixes, Jordan Emmanuel a superb 160 with 23 fours and 6 sixes, skipper; Theo Edward 34, Jeremiah Fedee 28 not out and Neige Eugene 24 not out.
The wicket-takers for Entrepot Secondary were; Ethan Alexander with 2 for 39 in 3 overs and 1 wicket to Tristan Felix. In reply, Entrepot Secondary was bowled out for 47 in 10.3 overs, with January Jules making 15 and Jade Charles 10.
The wicket takers for the Saint Lucia Sports Academy we’re; captain Theo Edward with 4 for 4 in 3 overs, Sheldon Willie 3 for 2 in 1.3 overs and Jalani Joseph 3 for 15 in 4 overs.
RESULT: SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DEFEATED ENTREPOT SECONDARY BY 436 RUNS.
At the Mindoo Philip Park, Stanley Jon Odlum Secondary registered a comfortable 5 wicket victory over Babonneau Secondary. Babonneau Secondary batting first, made 102 all out in 17 overs, with Kaleel Whaul making 19, Jeankim Nelson 16 and 13 each to Marlon Henry and Joshua Norley.
The wicket takers for Stanley Jon Odlum Secondary we’re; Emry Mathurin with 3 for 29 in 2 overs, Nikki Ferdinand 2 for 14 in 2 overs, Alfred Hippolyte 2 for 21 in 4 overs, Deanjay Louis 2 for 22 in 4 overs and 1 wicket to Deomarley Auguste.
In reply, Stanley Jon Odlum Secondary got to their target, finishing on 106 for 5 in 13.2 overs with Nikki Ferdinand making 19 and Deshawn Polius 16. The wicket takers for Babonneau Secondary were Cleton Amedee and Joshua Solomon.
RESULT: STANLEY JON ODLUM SECONDARY DEFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 5 WICKETS
At the Wenn Playing Field, Micoud Secondary recorded a 228 run victory over Clendon Mason Memorial. Micoud Secondary batting first, led by a century from Alexus Charles made 269 all out in 40 overs.
Alexus Charles batted wonderfully in making 102, inclusive of 11 fours and 4 sixes and 19 each to Dunte Fontinelle and Maran Tisson. The wicket takers for Clendon Mason Memorial were Verquan Estaphane with 5 for 48 in 8 overs and Caius Aimable with 2 for 32 in 7 overs.
In reply, Clendon Mason was bowled out for 42 in 9.5 overs with Verquan Estaphane making 11. The wicket takers for Micoud Secondary were Seth Reneau with 4 for 12 in 4.5 overs and Elijah Charles 3 for 17.
RESULT: MICOUD SECONDARY DEFEATED CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL BY 228 RUNS.
At the Piaye Playing Field, Piaye Secondary enjoyed a 288 run victory over Soufriere Comprehensive. Piaye Secondary batting first in a game reduced to 40 overs a side, made 341 for 7 in their allocated 40 overs, with Hansie Mason making 84, Jesse Charlmagne 79 not out, Hervie Paul 54 and Kurston Henry 48.
Bowling for Soufriere Comprehensive, Lershawn St. Prix with 2 for 62 in 8 overs and Joshon Mitchel 2 for 70 in 8 overs. In reply, Soufriere Comprehensive was dismissed for 53 in 12.2 overs, with David Andrew making 11.
Doing the damage with the ball for Micoud Secondary were; Omar Dawnes with 5 for 23 in 5 overs and Joshua Monero 2 for 21 in 4 overs.
RESULT: PIAYE SECONDARY DEFEATED SOUFRIERE COMPREHENSIVE BY 288 RUNS.
The tournament continues on Friday, March 3 with Sir Ira Simmons Seconday School coming up against Corinth Secondary School from 9:30am at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
