Castries, Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports 2023 Schools Under 19, 50 Over Cricket Tournament Preliminary Group Stage matches concluded in Saint Lucia on Friday, March 17, 2023. 

On Thursday, March 16 at the Wenn Playing Field, Grand Riviere Secondary led by accurate bowling from Rowan James with 6 for 3 in 3.1 overs and Jiovanni Alexander 4 for 6 in 4 overs, completed a 9-wicket victory over Beanefield Comprehensive Secondary School of Saint Lucia. 

RESULT: GRAND RIVIERE SECONDARY DEFEATED BEANEFIELD COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 9 WICKETS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

Three more matches were played on Friday March 17 with victories recorded for Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary, Castries Comprehensive Secondary School and Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary.

At the Balata Playing Field, Stanley Jon Odlum enjoyed a five wicket victory over Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School. Sir Ira Simmons Secondary batting first made 137 all out in 30.2 overs with Jesse George making 54 with 4 fours and 1 six and Female player Selena Ross making 20.

In reply Stanley Jon Odlum led by a half century from Deomarli Auguste comfortably got to their target finishing on 140 for 5 in 21.3 overs.

Auguste top scored with a well played unbeaten 67 inclusive of 8 fours and 3 sixes, Dean Jay Louis 11 and Nikki Ferdinand 10.

The wicket takers for Sir Ira Simmons were, Selena Ross with 3 for 27 in 9 overs and Russel Cadette 2 for 9 in 2 overs.

RESULT: STANLEY JON ODLUM MEMORIAL SECONDARY DEFEATED SIR IRA SIMMONS BY 5 WICKETS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

At the Mindoo Philip Park Castries Comprehensive completed a 51 run victory over Patricia D. James Secondary.

Castries Comprehensive of Saint Lucia batting first made 120 all out in 19 overs with Kaylum Thomas making 34, Kareem Francis 17 not out and Cayden Francois 11.

The wicket takers for Patrica D. James Secondary were Mekhi Stanislaus with 6 for 24 in 8 overs, Tarrique Jules 2 for 22 in 3 overs and 1 wicket to Sergio Sydney.

In reply, Patricia D. James Secondary was Dismissed for 69 in 21.3 overs with Sergio Sydney making 17 and Mekhi Stanislaus 14.

The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive were Cayden Francois 4 for 27 in 7.3 overs,, Kaylum Thomas 3 for 19 in 7 overs , Lynzie James 2 for 7 in 3 overs and 1 wicket to Kareem Francis.

RESULT: CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED PATRICIA D. JAMES SECONDARY BY 51 RUNS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

Over at the Wenn Playing Field Grand Riviere Secondary came up against Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary. Grand Riviere Secondary batting first made 106 all out in 23 overs with Kenicious Alexander making 26 not out, Rohan James 17 and Kyle Ashdale 16.

The wicket takers for Clendon Mason Memorial were Sylvan James 4 for 35 in 6 overs, Verquane Estephane 3 for 29 in 6 overs and 1 wicket to Damian Aurelien. 

In reply Clendon Mason Memorial finished on 107 for 6 in 19 overs with Sylvan James making 44, the only batsman to reach double figures.

The wicket takers for Grand Riviere Secondary were Rowan James 3 for 36 in 8 overs, Isaiah Sullivan 2 for 1 in 1 over and 1 wicket to Kevin Aubert .

RESULT : CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL DEFEATED GRAND RIVIERE SECONDARY BY 6 WICKETS IN SAINT LUCIA.
