Castries, Saint Lucia: Four more matches were completed as the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Thursday, March 9 at venues in Saint Lucia. 

Victories were recorded for ST MARY’S COLLEGE over SIR IRA SIMMONS SECONDARY, LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY over CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY, CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL SECONDARY over BEANEFIELD COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY and CHOSIEUL SECONDARY over SOUFRIERE COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, St Mary’s College won this encounter with Sir Ira Simmons Secondary by 161 runs in Saint Lucia. 

St Mary’s College batting first, was dismissed for 246 in 30.5 overs with Zhanni Joseph making 48, Tyler Venner 28, Johnathan Daniel 27, Jayden St Martin 25, Dante Eugene 20, Nayo John 15 and Cleyanus Jules 11.

The wicket-takers for Sir Ira Simmons Secondary were, Tayshaun Gervais with 5 for 64 in 8 overs, Russel Cadette 3 for 52 in 7 overs and Javis Weeks 2 for 39 in 6 overs.

In reply, Sir Ira Sommons was bowled out for 86 in 17.4 overs with Zack Jn Baptiste making 18, Kenrick Louis 13 and Tayshaun Gervais 10.

The wicket takers for St Mary’s College were, Zhanni Joseph with impressive figures of 6 for 26 in 5 overs, Nayo John 2 for 19 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Tyler Venner and Yunueski Gustave.

RESULT: ST MARY’S COLLEGE DEFEATED SIR IRA SIMMONS SECONDARY BY 161 RUNS in SAINT LUCIA. 

At the Mindoo Philip Park, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary had the better of Castries Comprehensive, winning this encounter by 136 runs. Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary batting first made 203 all out in 26.2 overs with Tristan Scholar top scoring with a well-played inning of 81, inclusive of 8 fours and 5 sixes.

Other useful scores came from, Isaiah Jones with 27, Jewel Simon 22, Leon Alexander 21 and Khan Elcock 12. The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive Secondary were, Vince Rogers with 4 for 20 in 7 overs, J’ Dell Louis 4 for 20 in 4.2 overs and one wicket each to Kethan Charlemagne and Caden Francois.

In reply, Castries Comprehensive was bowled out for 67 in 17.5 overs with J’ Dell Louis making 25 and Kethan Charlemagne 10.

The wicket takers for Leon Hess Secondary School were, Leon Alexander 3 for 12 in 4 overs, Bjorn Fanis 3 for 19 in 4 overs, Aaron St Clair 2 for 5 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Isaiah Jones and captain Khan Elcock.

RESULT: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE DEFEATED CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 136 RUNS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

At the Wenn Playing Field, Clendon Mason Memorial completed a comfortable 6 wicket victory over Beanefield Comprehensive Secondary. Beanefield Secondary batting first was dismissed for 87 in 23 overs with Jalan Gustave making 31.

Bowling for Clendon Mason Memorial, Verquan Estaphane 5 for 29 in 7 overs, Talan Gaston 2 for 18 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Dominique John and Kevin Evans. In reply, Clendon Mason Memorial comfortably reached their target finishing on 90 for 4 in 14.2 overs with Verquan Estaphane making 15, Sylvan James 14 and Talan Gaston 11.

The wicked takers for Beanefield Comprehensive were, Herman Isidore with 2 for 20 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Joshua Celistin and Jalan Estaphane.

RESULT: CLENDON MASON MEMORIAL SECONDARY DEFEATED BEANEFIELD COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 6 WICKETS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

At the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary enjoyed a 108 run victory over Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School in Saint Lucia. Choiseul Secondary batting first made 168 all out in 25 overs with Christian Peter making 29, Jeanille Williams 23 and Jude Joseph 12.

The wicket takers for Soufriere Comprehensive were, Faith Charlemagne with 5 for 31 in 6 overs and Kyron Sydney 2 for 16 in 2 overs.

In reply, Soufriere Comprehensive finished on 60 all out in 16.4 overs with with Faith Charlemagne making 11. The wicket takers for Choiseul Secondary were, Sherquan Mitchel with 4 for 12 in 4 overs and 2 wickets each to Christian Peter, Jude Joseph and Arnez Boulougne.

RESULT: CHOISEUL SECONDARY DEFEATED SOUFRIERE COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 108 RUNS IN SAINT LUCIA. 

The tournament continues on Friday, March 10 with 3 matches. Choiseul Secondary vs Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary @ the Piaye Playing Field, Beanefield Comprehensive Secondary vs Grand Riviere Secondary @ the Wenn Playing Field and Corinth Secondary vs St Mary’s College at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
