This event will be held at the Soufriere Mini Stadium. Spectators can look forward to a high level of competition among participants after some very heated semifinals. Each Island Champs race will be contested as straight finals.
With a seating capacity of 550 for uncovered bleachers and 2500 for covered stands, students have the priority to purchase tickets to the covered seats, as long as they purchase directly from the schools who request them from the MYDS.
With a starting baseline of 50 tickets per school allocation, more tickets can be assigned to schools based on their requests and availability. Tickets cost EC$10 for entry into Zone B (uncovered bleachers area), and EC$15.00 for Zone A (covered seating areas). Remaining tickets will be sold at the facility.
Documented participating athletes and their accompanying coaches/supervisors will enter the venue through their designated Athletes Gate, while other patrons will enter through the assigned Zone A and Zone B gates. Live coverage of Island Champs will be shown on the NTN platform and on the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Facebook page.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia also thanked all stakeholders for their support as they look forward to hosting the first ever Island Champs 2023.
The Ministry of Sports of Saint Lucia asked the schools to rep themselves proudly on Friday, March 31st, at the Soufriere Mini Stadium from 11:00 a.m. to decide which school/s will be victorious and win $20,000 for male and $20,000 for female categories. With $40,000 up for grabs, will schools from the northern or southern districts dominate this year’s Island Champs?
