Saint Lucia hosts Desruisseaux Football League Promotional Cup 2022

Three matches were played over the weekend in the Desruisseaux Football League – DFL Promotional Cup 2022. On Saturday, 3rd December, Dx United came up against lionheart at 6 pm. This encounter ended in a goalless draw despite lionheart being awarded a penalty in the 80th min.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Three matches were played over the weekend in the Desruisseaux Football League – DFL Promotional Cup 2022. On Saturday, 3rd December, Dx United came up against lionheart at 6 pm. This encounter ended in a goalless draw despite lionheart being awarded a penalty in the 80th min.

On Sunday 4th December two matches were played. In game one, Small Axe got the better of Blanchard United 2 goals to 1. Scoring for small axe were Ryan O’Reilly in the 50th and Davin Prince in the 79th. Joeanus Chalery got the only goal for Blanchard United in the 67th.

The second encounter of the night saw La Couville FC making light work of green monsters 4 – 1. Scoring for La Couville FC were Nimayah Cherubin with a brace in the 37th and 90th mins and Daren Dolcy 35th min and Terry Austin 39th min. Sheenan Demar scored the only goal for green monsters in the 60th min.

Matches continue on Thursday 8th December with a double header.

Green Monsters will take on Lion Heart at 6 pm while Desruisseaux United will come up against Blanchard United at 8 pm. 

Following an epic final at the SLFA Inc. Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy emerged victorious to be crowned champions of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 19 football competition.

In the encounter between St. Lucia Sports Academy and Soufriere Comprehensive, the Sports Academy drew first blood in the 31st min from the boot of prolific goal scorer Traylon Henry. Despite the creation of opportunities by both teams no further goals were scored as the half ended 1- 0.

On the resumption, Soufriere Comprehensive went all out in search of the equaliser which finally came in the 67th min from Cassian Jn. Baptiste. Both teams fought gallantly for the go ahead goal which never materialised as the game ended 1 – 1.

In the ensuing penalty kicks, The Saint Lucia Sports Academy prevailed 4 – 2, with keeper Christopher Clarke effecting two fine save and Eymani Butcher scoring the winning penalty.

Meanwhile, the Finals of the Under 15 Football competition take place on Wednesday 7th, December between St. Lucia Sports Academy and St. Mary’s College.

The match, which kicks off at 1.00 pm, will be played at the SLFA Inc. Technical Center in Grande Riviere. Matches continues in the SLFA Inc. Island Super Cup on Tuesday 6th December 2022.

At the Desruisseaux Playing Field, at 7.00 pm Laborie plays Micoud.

Over at the Soufriere Mini Stadium in the first of the encounter Babonneau plays Anse La Raye at 6.15 pm and at 8.15 pm Soufriere plays host to Choiseul.

All mechanisms are in place for the staging of the second annual Gros Islet Community Futsal Cup scheduled to kick off at the Beausejour Indoor Facility from 9th – 12th December 2022. Games will run from 5.00 pm.
