Castries, Saint Lucia: The Gros Islet secured victory against South Castries in the Sandals Under-19 Cricket Cup in Saint Lucia on Sunday, February 26, 2023. The Gros Islet won the match with 290 runs.Ā 

The Gros Islet Under 19 Cricket Team #1 wins again, as the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association/SANDALS UNDER-19 CUP continued over the past weekend.

On Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Gros Islet Playing Field, the Gros Islet Under 19 Team #1 registered a 290 run victory over South Castries Under 19.

Gros Islet Under 19 batting first, after winning the toss, made 363 for 9 in their allocated 40 overs, with half centuries from Johnathan Daniel, Ryan Goodman, Lee John and Royce Paul.

Johnathan Daniel top scored with 76 which included 11 fours and 1 six, Ryan Goodman 65 with 8 fours and 1 six, Lee John 57 with 8 fours and 2 sixes and Royce Paul 51 with 5 fours and 3 sixes in Saint Lucia.

Other useful scores came from captain; Khan Elcock with 27 and Jeandell Cyril 11 not out. The wicket takers for South Castries were; Jaylan Chandler with 5 for 93 in 10 overs, Aaron Joseph 2 for 61 in 8 overs and Merville Samuel 2 for 84 in 9 overs.

In reply, good steady bowling from Gros Islet, led by a 5 wicket haul by Off Spinner Tori Hippolyte, restricted South Castries to 74 all out in 17.1 overs, with Jaylan Chandler making 21 and Merville Samuel 20.

The wicket takers for Gros Islet were; Tori Hippolyte with 5 for 11 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Jeandell Cyril, Royce Paul, Darvin Forde and Leon Alexander with his very first delivery.

RESULT: GROS ISLET UNDER 19 TEAM #1 WON OVER SOUTH CASTRIES UNDER 19 BY 290 RUNS in SAINT LUCIA.Ā 

The Saturday morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program continued on February 25, 2023 with another exciting and intense cricket enhancement and development training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.Ā Ā 

The programme took the following format:

* Prayers/ Welcome

* Warm up activities

* Catching/ Fielding drills.Ā 

* Physical Conditioning.Ā 

* Batting drills

* Nets.Ā 

* Younger participants ages 11 years and under were engaged in game sense in batting & bowling).Ā 

* Mini cricket match.Ā
