Saint Lucia: Gros Islet wins against South Castries in T10 cricket series

In the first of a 3-match T-10 series between Gros Islet and South Castries, Gros Islet defeated South Castries by eight wickets. South Castries is using this series of matches as preparation for the upcoming Dream 11, Saint Lucia Blass T 10 Cricket Tournament.

Castries, Saint Lucia: In the first of a 3-match T-10 series between Gros Islet and South Castries, Gros Islet defeated South Castries by eight wickets. South Castries is using this series of matches as preparation for the upcoming Dream 11, Saint Lucia Blass T 10 Cricket Tournament.

On Saturday May 6, 2023 at the Gros Islet Playing Field South Castries batting first made 108 for 3 in their allotted ten overs with Noel Leo making 42, Jaylan Chandler 25 not out and Malcolm Monrose 16.

The wicket takers for Gros Islet were, Isaiah Jones with 1 for 5 in 2 overs and Bolton Sayers together with Darvin Forde with identical figures of 1 for 17 in 2 overs. In reply Gros Islet finished on 112 for 2 in 8.3 overs with Kimani Melius making 39, Jard Goodman 30 not out, Tarriqie Edward 24 not out and Khan Elcock 16.

Kensley Paul was South Castries’s only wicket-taker with 2 for 17 in 2 overs. The 3 match series continues on Sunday May 7 with Game #2 from 1:00 pm and Game #3 from 4:00 pm at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The Saturday morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program continued on May 6, 2023 with more cricket enhancement and development training at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. 

The three and a half (3 1/2 hour) long training session (9:30am to 1:00pm) was again well attended with sixty five (65) young cricketers enjoying the activities presented.

The activities took the following format:

* Prayers/ Welcome.

* Warm up activities (catching games). Agility & Flexibility.

* Physical Conditioning.

* Fielding/ Catching drills.

* Target throwing.

* Nets.

* Younger participants ages 11 years and under were engaged in game sense in batting and fielding.

* Mini cricket match.

The coaches who facilitated the highly energetic training session were Alton Crafton and Kimani Melius with assistance from Jard Goodman.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Friday May 5, 2023 with a Beach Recovery Session at the Reduit Beach.
