Castries, Saint Lucia: Goodman Warriors secured victory against Melius Challengers in the 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket match at Gros Islet Playing Field of Saint Lucia on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
The 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket Tournament, sponsored by District Representative; Kenson Casimir, continued with the 20/20 format on Tuesday, February 7, with MELIUS CHALLENGERS coming up against GOODMAN WARRIORS at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
MELIUS CHALLENGERS batting first made 174 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs with half centuries from Kegan Arnold and Amari Venner. They both made 63, Kegan Arnold struck seven fours and three sixes and Amari Venner, six fours and three sixes.
Other useful scores came from, Desne Gidharry with 19 and Tori Hippolyte 19. The wicket takers for GOODMAN WARRIORS were, Darren Sammy Jr with 2 for 17 in 3 overs and one wicket each to Kevin Gassie, Rene Montoute and Qiana Joseph.
In reply, GOODMAN WARRIORS comfortably got to their target finishing on 175 for 2 in 15.1 overs with captain Jard Goodman leading the way with a brilliant inning of 81 not out inclusive of 7 fours and 7 sixes. Other useful scores came from Qwaine Henry with 45 and Jamaal James with 12 not out.
The wicket takers for MELIUS CHALLENGERS were, Dillan John and Sky Lafeuille with 1 wicket each. The Man of the Match award went to JARD GOODMAN who guided his team, GOODMAN WARRIORS to victory with a boundary studded 81 not out.
The tournament continues on Wednesday with EDWARD BLASTERS coming up against GERSON STRIKERS from 6:00 pm at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
