Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia has qualified for the qualification Rounds of the Concacaf Gold Cup after defeating Dominica by two goals on Monday, March 27, 2023. The match between the two Caribbean nations was held at Darren Sammy National Stadium.

While sharing the update, Saint Lucia Football Association extended greetings to the team. It added, “Congratulations to Team 758 – Saint Lucia. Undefeated in the 2022/23 Concacaf Nations League Championship. Saint Lucia has qualified for the qualification Rounds of the Concacaf Gold Cup.”

Dominica crashed out of the Concacaf Nations League after being beaten by 2 goals against Saint Lucia in their final Group C Match on Monday at the Darren Sammy National Stadium in the country. Dominica entered the match unable to qualify for the next round, but were looking to avenge last year’s defeat to the country at the Windsor Park.

National Head Coach Ellington Sabin, coaching in his first match as Head Coach, handed senior debuts to Mosiah Bonney and Jervani Xavier as Dominica gave a good account of themselves in the first 15 minutes of the match.

But despite the good start it was the country getting on the score sheet first as Gregson President pounced on a loose pass in the back and put the country Infront 1-nil in the 18th minute of play.

Kurt Frederick doubled the advantage in the 40th minute as the country pounced again on another mistake at the back to take a 2-nil lead into the half. Kurt Frederick then put the match out of reach in the 61st minute scoring his 2nd goal of the match to put the country 3-nil up. Dominica made a few substitutions after and the changes brought a goal.

Briel Thomas scored from the penalty spot after substitute Felix Anselm was fouled in the box. But there was not enough time to pull off the comeback. Dominica went down 3-1.
