The Desruisseaux football crowd was thoroughly entertained on Wednesday 14th September when neighbors Dennery and Mabouya locked horns in the Eastern Zone U19 competition for a place in the grand finals.
Evan Joseph placed Dennery ahead in the 21st, min but their lead was short lived as Shaquille Williams got the equalizer for Mabouya in the 30th min. No further goals were scored as the half ended 1 – 1.
At the resumption, both teams pressed forward in search of the go-ahead goal. Mabouya went ahead in the 72nd minute with a goal from Claudio Joseph. After missing a spot kick in the 80th min, Dennery got a second chance at an equalizer from the spot, which was converted by Josh Hunte in the 86th to draw level. Despite Dennery’s best efforts it was meant to be Mabouya’s night as they were rewarded with two goals in stoppage time from Shahid Mathurin and a second from Claudio Joseph in the 2nd and 8th min of added on time respectively, to win the game 4 – 2.
