Castries, Saint Lucia: Coming on the heels of a successful Press Launch on Monday 14th November, the Saint Lucia Football Association Inc., in conjunction with the Women’s Task Force under the Chair of Madame Examine Philbert, is all set to continue implementing its programme of activities to highlight the celebration of Women’s Football Month, under the theme Let Them Play.

In celebration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Messages will be presented on Friday, 25th November by the following:

The colour code for the Day is Orange.

The action continues with a National Football Girls Festival at the Soufriere Mini Stadium on Saturday 26th November. The Festival is supportive of Universal Children’s Day. 

It is anticipated that 14 Leagues will be represented at the activity which commences at 10.00 am. The programme of activities will further unfold with a presentation to the Dunnottar School on Wednesday 30th November at their Institution.

A National Women’s Conference is scheduled for Saturday 3rd December at the Bay Garden Hotel. There will be presentations by

The Conference also includes a Panel Discussion on the topic “A Winning Culture” moderated by Mary Campbell.

The panelists include, Misses Examine Philbert, Ellaissia Marquis, Racquel John and Shenelle Joseph. The next stop is a Secondary Schools Female 7 a side football extravaganza at the Soufriere Mini Stadium on Wednesday 7th December. 

There are 15 schools scheduled to participate with each allowed a maximum of 10 players. On Saturday 10th December Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. Women’s Football Championship will kick off with a doubleheader at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds. Prior to each match, the respective captains will issue a statement in recognition of Womens’ Football Month. The National Women Under 17 team will be participating in the championships.

Matches continued in the SLFA’s Inc. Island Premier Cup on Wednesday 23rd November 2022 with a doubleheader at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

Vieux Fort North defeated Central Castries 2 – 0 with a brace from Deline Larson in the 44th and 74th min respectively. In the other game played Vieux Fort South after enjoying a 2 – 0 advantage had to settle with a share of the points as Gros Islet clawed their way back to earn a 2 – 2 draw.

Scoring for Vieux Fort South were Shawn Alfred 42nd and Trent Alexander 52nd min, while Troy Greenidge scored a brace in the 72nd and 89th min of play.

One match was played in the Island Premier Cup on Thursday 24th November at the Desruisseaux Playing Field. In the lone encounter, La Clery sporting the orange and black First National Bank sponsored uniform, got the better of Desruisseaux 6 – 2. Their goal scorers were Malik St. Prix a brace in the 12th and 24th min, Jeremie Abraham 61st, Ronham Cooper 67th, Shaquille Degazon 68th and Benjamin Mc Donald in the 76th min.

Scoring for Desruisseaux were Davian Jetrum 39th and Jessie James 83rd min.
