The Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. has been in discussion with officials of the Ministry of Education regarding a new initiative that it intends to undertake within the Schools’ system. The said initiative requires the SLFA Inc with the input of the Ministry, to identify 25 Primary Schools to be included in this programme.
To date, the collaborative effort has realised the proposal of the said 25 schools.
The programme is termed Generation Amazing and is supported by Concacaf and sponsored by the Supreme Committee for the Delivery and Legacy of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
To this end the selected schools have been written to informing them of the nature of the programme which centres around the issue of Football Development as is a departure from the traditional Football Development.
The SLFA Inc. anticipates that the schools would embrace this initiative as the outcomes from such a programme would redound to the benefit of the school, community and Saint Lucia.
The Generation Amazing Foundation programme will target 25 students from the selected schools between the age of 8 – 12 years, where Football will be used as a vehicle to tackle some of the social ills in the communities; empower youth and improve communities and by extension Saint Lucia.
Football for social development will examine issues such as Life Skills, Values, Promoting Non violence, Bullying and Youth Empowerment.
The underlying vision of the programme is to build a legacy in communities that go well beyond the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.
