Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Football Association announced that the country played San Marino in the first two International Friendlies. History will be realised on two fronts when Saint Lucia plays San Marino in the first two International Friendlies at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on Thursday, 17th November.

While, it will be San Marino’s first visit to the Caribbean and their first match against a Caribbean team it will also herald the first occaission Saint Lucia will be engaging a European team.

The stage is all set for this historic match following the Technical Meeting held with the Teams represented by their Manager, Equipment Manager and Coache on Wednesday 16th November at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground with the Official Technical team. This included the Match Commissioner, Venue Coordinator and Referees coordinator.

Later in the evening both teams held successful training sessions, expressing satisfaction with the outcome.

Following the teams’ training sessions they held a Press Conference and both expressed optimism towards the outcome of both matches.

For his part Stern John Head Coach, indicated that it was an opportune time to showcase the talents of the local players and he was very pleased with the overall build up to the Friendlies and commended the players for buying into their game and the team’s philosophy.

He also indicated that a few players will be making their international debut and while, the team represents a blend of experience and youth, nevertheless he is quite confident that they will rise to the occasion and come out successful.

Three matches were played in the Schools Under 15 football competition at the SAB on Wednesday 16th November.

St. Mary’s College with goals from Thierry Morrile, J. Xavier and Keenan Joseph defeated Bocage Secondary 3 – 0. 

Babonneau Sec overwhelmed Leon Hess Comprehensive 8 – 1.They were led by 5 goals from Joshua Norely in the 1st, 5th, 11th, 18th and 59th min, Kenny Francois 34th, Curtrel Francois 62nd and Danraj Edw ard 70th min.

Daniel Harris pulled one back for Bocage in the 46th min. Sir Ira Simmons sapated their neighbours 6 – 0 with goals from Cornelius Edmund 35th, Sham Price 36th, Tyrese Inglis 55th, Arshavin Phillip 56th ,Odel Antoine 79th and an own goal by Nilson Willrow in the 12th min.
